Prime Minister Mark Carney has called urgent national byelections for three Canadian seats. Voters in Brantford-Brant, Ontario; Châteauguay-Lacolle, Quebec; and Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke, British Columbia will vote on August 31. Campaigning is ramping up quickly, with major groups selecting candidates and finalising strategies. The Conservatives have vowed to push federal probes on two major concerns: construction oversight of the Gordie Howe bridge and Washington’s proposed tariff measures.
