Tasmanian authorities have warned that crowds are "loving Neil to death" and could force the euthanasia of the heavy seal if the crowd keeps crowding the animal near the shore.
Local reports say Neil's rising popularity brings harmful behaviour, including tipping kayaks and biting jet skis, after coming ashore and attracting hundreds of onlookers. Authorities are pleaded with the public to give him space.
