Media Identity Carrie Bickmore Named Victorian Australian of the Year

Radio host and former television presenter Carrie Bickmore has been honoured as the 2026 Victorian Australian of the Year for her tireless efforts to advance brain cancer research. Her dedication stems from a personal tragedy — the loss of her husband, Greg Lange, to the disease in 2010.

“Carrie Bickmore has been recognised for her fundraising work to progress brain cancer research.”

Since founding the Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation in 2015, Bickmore has helped raise more than $27 million to support innovative research into treatments and potential cures. Her foundation continues to be a driving force behind many national initiatives.

In 2021, she launched The Brain Cancer Centre, an organisation uniting researchers and clinicians through joint trials and projects designed to enhance survival rates and expand treatment opportunities. Since its inception, the centre has secured an additional $45 million in funding for research programs across Australia.
