Academy Players Prepare for Remembrance Sunday

In the lead-up to Remembrance Sunday, Wolves Academy players have been honoring the legacy of those who served, with a special focus on Old Gold connections. The under-12 squad planted a tree at Compton Park to commemorate Wolves players who served in both World Wars.

The ceremony included vicar Anne Martin, who accompanied the young players as they read out the names of the veterans and recited a poem expressing their respect and reflection on the meaning of Remembrance.

Week of Remembrance Activities

These activities were part of the Premier League's annual Christmas Day truce initiative, helping young players understand the importance of remembrance during a meaningful time of year.

Natalie Deakin, head of education at Wolves Academy, stated: “It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project.”

The reflection and educational experiences provided a meaningful conclusion to the team's Remembrance week.

Author's summary: Wolves Academy players combined education and respect through various activities, deepening their understanding of Remembrance and the club’s historical ties to wartime service.
