Canon R6 Mark III Announced with 32.5MP Sensor and 7K RAW Video

Canon USA officially introduced the EOS R6 Mark III on November 6, 2025. This new model elevates hybrid photo and video performance with a 32.5-megapixel sensor and 7K RAW video recording at up to 60 frames per second. The body-only version is priced at $2,799.

Performance and Imaging

The updated sensor offers 60% more resolution compared to the R6 Mark II, enhancing detail and low-light quality. The stabilization system now supports longer telephoto lenses, making it suitable for live events and concert photography. Battery life extends to approximately 430 shots per charge, while the camera body weighs 738 grams and remains compatible with Canon RF lenses.

Video Capabilities

Video performance takes a significant leap forward. The R6 Mark III records 7K 30p Open Gate and 4K 120p footage in both 8-bit and 10-bit formats, with support for Canon Log 3. The addition of 7K RAW recording positions this camera as a strong choice for cinema-level production. Internal recording is handled via the CFexpress slot, using a 12-bit RAW Light compression to keep file sizes under control.

“The R6 Mark III represents a major upgrade. It blurs the line between photo and video.”

Autofocus and Connectivity

Autofocus has been refined for creatives working in dynamic environments. Face detection now covers up to 100 user-stored profiles, making it ideal for performances, documentary work, and podcasts. The new rear LCD supports 8K playback and features enhanced monitoring tools for precise focus and exposure adjustments.

Creative Use and Flexibility

With its upgraded sensor, advanced autofocus, and extensive codec support, the R6 Mark III establishes itself as a versatile hybrid camera for serious creators.

Author’s summary:

The Canon R6 Mark III redefines hybrid creativity, merging 32.5MP stills, 7K RAW video, and advanced autofocus into a compact, filmmaker-friendly body under $3K.
