Claressa Shields criticized Jake Paul for his apparent surprise over the allegations involving Gervonta "Tank" Davis, saying that Paul's reaction seemed performative given Davis's prior history of similar issues.
Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions, announced that the planned Netflix exhibition on November 14 would not go forward after new domestic violence accusations surfaced against Davis. According to Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian, they tried to handle the situation responsibly and plan to schedule Paul against another opponent on Netflix in 2025.
Court documents reportedly describe an incident in which an ex-girlfriend alleged that Davis choked her inside a Miami strip club on October 27, along with other troubling behavior.
Paul called Davis “an actual walking human piece of garbage” in a statement on X.
“I have a few things to say about that,” Shields said on X Spaces. “One: I’m not going to say I 100 percent agree with what Jake said, but what I will say is that we all knew Tank’s background with domestic violence before his fight got made.”
“Before any of his fights get made, we already know he’s got some issues with this. This is not his first, second, or even third time with something like this coming out.”
Shields confronted Paul for his selective outrage toward Gervonta Davis, emphasizing that Davis’s history was already well-known long before the fight was arranged.
