Seven neighbours living on a street in Brookmans Park will share a £1 million prize from the People's Postcode Lottery. The winning postcode, AL9 6PT, won the weekly "Millionaire Street" prize.
Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, pledged to donate part of his and his wife Olesya's quarter-of-a-million-pound prize to a charity supporting adults with learning difficulties.
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.”
On October 9, Camphill Milton Keynes, a charity, reported its only minibus was stolen and later found burned.
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”
Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, commented on the impact of the incident on the residents:
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”
Summary: A Brookmans Park street shared a £1 million lottery prize, with the winners pledging support to a local charity recovering from the loss of a vital minibus.
