Middlesbrough will honour those who fought in global conflicts and gave their lives. On Thursday, November 6, at 10:45am, Elected Mayor Chris Cooke will lay the First Poppy at the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Road.
Local school pupils are invited to place poppy crosses on the Field of Remembrance as part of the commemoration.
The parade and service will be held on Sunday, November 9, beginning at 10:30am. The procession will march to The Cenotaph for the service, which is expected to conclude around 12:30pm. The Mayor and other civic dignitaries will attend.
Those who cannot attend in person can watch the service live on the Council's Facebook page.
On Tuesday, November 11, an Armistice Day service will take place at The Cenotaph, starting at 10:45am, followed by a two-minute silence.
The services will be led by Reverend David Goodhew, Vicar of St Barnabas Church in Middlesbrough.
Councillor Linda Lewis, Middlesbrough Council’s Armed Forces Champion, stated: “Remembrance has never been more important and is our acknowledgement of the selfless sacrifice of others to preserve and protect the freedoms we all enjoy today."
