7-foot-9 Canadian Rioux Sees Game Action as No. 3 Florida Rout North Florida

Alex Condon delivered 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Micah Handlogten recorded his second straight double-double as No. 3 Florida rebounded from its season-opening loss with a dominant 104–64 victory over North Florida on Thursday night.

The game was so one-sided that walk-on Olivier Rioux, a 7-foot-9 freshman recognized as the world’s tallest teenager, made his college debut. The 19-year-old entered to loud applause with 2:09 remaining but didn’t touch the ball.

Following a narrow loss to 13th-ranked Arizona in Las Vegas, the Gators unveiled their national championship banner before tip-off, then showcased strong play, especially on defense. Condon controlled the interior, adding four assists, three blocks, and two steals.

Florida (1–1) dominated the boards with a 64–24 rebounding margin and overwhelmed the Ospreys inside, outscoring them 66–22 in the paint. Handlogten contributed 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Thomas Haugh added 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. The Gators celebrated their 35th consecutive home opener win, maintaining a perfect 12–0 record against North Florida (0–1), now led by first-year coach Bobby Keenen.
