From Noah Schnapp to Natalia Dyer, six Stranger Things stars have faced challenges building successful careers beyond Hawkins' supernatural spotlight.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things opens with a flashback featuring a de-aged Will Byers. Noah Schnapp shared with SFX magazine how he helped guide the young actor to match his "physicality" and breath work, before the VFX team spent months perfecting the effect of "11-year-old me." This nostalgic glimpse completes the emotional arc of Will’s story.
Schnapp confessed he feels ready to say goodbye to the role.
With the last season premiering in three parts on November 26, December 25, and December 31, nostalgia runs high — but not every cast member has found similar success beyond Hawkins’ supernatural chaos.
Gaten Matarazzo, beloved as the loyal, curious Dustin Henderson, became a fan favorite for his comedic timing and heartfelt sincerity. He was the emotional glue of the Hawkins group.
However, outside the nostalgic neon glow of the Netflix series, Matarazzo’s career has seen quieter moments. Before Stranger Things, he was a shining Broadway performer, playing Gavroche in Les Misérables and Benjamin in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. These theatrical roots gave him the confidence that translated well onscreen, though his post-show career has been more subdued.
Several Stranger Things actors, despite strong roles on the show, have struggled to gain momentum in their careers beyond the series.
