Elder Gérald Caussé Called to Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé has been called to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His ordination took place on Thursday under the direction of President Dallin H. Oaks, together with members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Caussé, 62, previously served as the Presiding Bishop of the Church. Born in Bordeaux, France, he has been known for his leadership within the global Church and his devotion to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Caussé said in a press release. “He’s always been at the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful privilege it is to be a witness of Christ — the greatest stewardship we can hold in our lives.”

Role of Apostles in the Church

According to the Church, Apostles are described as “special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world.” They also carry major administrative responsibilities, guiding the operation and development of the global Church.
