Elder Gérald Caussé Called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Elder Gérald Caussé became the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was ordained that same day by President Dallin H. Oaks along with the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said on Thursday. “He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”

Role of Apostles in the Church

Apostles serve as special witnesses of the name of Christ worldwide. They hold important administrative duties that include overseeing the growth and operation of the global Church.

The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stands as the second-highest governing body in the Church, operating under the First Presidency, which consists of the Church President and two counselors.
