Channel 4 has revealed the trailer for Summerwater, a gripping new Scottish drama adapted from Sarah Moss’s celebrated novel. This six-part series is the first production by Glasgow-based indie Freedom Scripted and is set to premiere later this month.
The series is adapted by John Donnelly (Utopia, The Pass) and jointly directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt) and Fiona Walton (Rebus).
Summerwater is set in a rain-soaked holiday cabin park in the Scottish Highlands. The story unfolds through intertwined perspectives of holidaymakers, revealing subtle tensions, hidden resentments, and everyday pressures that lead to a dramatic climax on a single day by the loch.
"The series explores fleeting beauty, quiet resentments and the unseen pressures beneath ordinary lives — all culminating in a single, shattering day by the loch."
Summerwater offers a deep, atmospheric exploration of human relationships and hidden conflicts in an evocative Highland setting.
