I'd not used my PlayStation Portal in a year, but now Sony's new update has arrived I can't put it down

The PlayStation Portal Update Revitalizes the Device

When I first reviewed the PlayStation Portal two years ago, I praised its potential, saying,

"If it had access to cloud gaming too, it'd be better still."
Now, after some time, that capability has arrived fully, transforming the handheld significantly.

Cloud Gaming Expansion from Beta to Full Release

Sony initially introduced cloud gaming support a year ago in beta, but only for a limited set of titles. The latest major update now allows playing hundreds of games streamed directly without connecting to a PS5 or PS5 Pro, largely free of lag based on my experience.

Access to a Vast Library

With this update, the cloud gaming feature expanded greatly, incorporating streaming of a large portion of your purchased games. Sony claims more than a thousand titles are supported, all accessible in a new section called "Your Library." Selecting a game loads it for play after a short wait.

A Rich Collection Available Immediately

As a games and tech writer with an extensive PS5 and classic games collection, I found it hard to spot any missing titles. Over 100 games from my owned library were instantly available after updating and enabling the new option, including many I had forgotten about over the years.

"If it had access to cloud gaming too, it'd be better still."

Author's summary: The latest PlayStation Portal update brings full cloud gaming support, unlocking over a thousand titles and giving the handheld a fresh, lag-free gaming experience without needing connection to a console.
