Fans are reacting to the first detailed look at the new and improved Xbox Cloud Gaming. Early videos highlight demanding open-world titles like The Witcher 3 playing smoothly in 1440p resolution.
This upgrade is available through the high-end Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier, with performance comparable to certain GeForce Now subscription levels. Although Microsoft faces criticism over recent Game Pass price hikes, the enhanced streaming quality could persuade some users to stay subscribed.
With the beta period concluded, several titles now display higher resolutions and frame rates. Jez Corden from Windows Central showcased how Xbox Cloud Gaming could serve as a promising alternative to Nvidia's GeForce Now service.
“It’s a night and day difference from previous streaming sessions,” noted Corden, highlighting smoother gameplay and minimal latency.
According to Microsoft’s new service tiers, only Game Pass Ultimate subscribers gain access to full 1440p graphics. Essential and Premium tiers retain cloud gaming functionality but at reduced quality and with longer queue times.
In a recent Windows Central demonstration, Corden tested several Xbox Cloud Gaming titles on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld. The Witcher 3 ran at 2560×1440 resolution with a consistent 60 frames per second, demonstrating how far the platform’s streaming capabilities have progressed. However, only a limited selection of games currently supports this enhanced performance mode.
The upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming now streams select games at 1440p and 60fps, signaling major progress that may redefine expectations for cloud-based gaming experiences.
