NEW YORK – Columbia women's soccer stepped up under pressure in their regular-season finale, defeating Harvard 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, securing a spot in the Ivy League Tournament.
This victory marked the Lions' third consecutive postseason appearance and earned them the No. 3 seed for next week's tournament. It also represented the program’s fifth-ever win against Harvard.
"It's a wonderful testament to this program and the work that everyone and the staff has put in," said Head Coach Tracey Bartholomey. "I'm so proud of everyone and especially the seniors, Harvard is a great team and for us to beat them, I'm just so happy."
First-year forward Evelyn Javers delivered a breakout game when it counted. She scored both goals for Columbia, one in each half, consistently threatening Harvard’s defense.
Javers opened the scoring in the 18th minute by converting a through ball from Maia Tabion, giving the Lions early momentum.
