One Substance Added to the SVHC Candidate List, Total Reaches 251
On November 5, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the 35th batch including 1 new substance of very high concern (SVHC). This addition raises the total number of substances on the Candidate List to 251.
New SVHC Substance Details
- Name: 1,1'-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis[pentabromobenzene] (DBDPE)
- Properties: Very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB - Article 57e)
Regulatory Obligations for Companies
For products exported to the European Union containing SVHC substances above 0.1%, companies must comply with information transmission and SCIP reporting duties. If the annual export volume exceeds one ton and contains more than 0.1% of SVHC substances, notification is also required.
