MEXICO CITY (AP) — Jalen Duren scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons defeated the Dallas Mavericks 122-110 on Saturday night in Mexico City. Cade Cunningham contributed 21 points and set a personal best with 18 assists. The Pistons pulled away decisively in the fourth quarter to secure their second consecutive win.
“I just wanted to get the win, coach had a great game plan and my teammates found me and the rest is history,” said Duren.
“It is cool, super cool, the coaching staff put me in great position, and my teammates helped me, to do it out here was cool,” Cunningham said. “The win is important, we are continuing to grow and it is important to represent the Pistons organization, we wanted to make sure to handle our business.”
D’Angelo Russell came off the bench to score 31 points. Rookie Cooper Flagg, the first overall pick, reached a season-high 16 points on 3-of-14 shooting. Dallas led 93-87 after three quarters but struggled in the final period, being outscored 35-17.
The Mavericks played without forward Anthony Davis, who is expected to miss two games due to a left leg injury sustained Wednesday against Indiana.
