Bad Company's Paul Rodgers Cannot Attend Rock Hall of Fame to Prioritize Health: 'I Have to Put Myself First'

Bad Company's Paul Rodgers Prioritizes Health Over Rock Hall of Fame Appearance

Paul Rodgers, founding member and lead singer of Bad Company, announced via social media that he will not attend the band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 8.

"My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health," Rodgers wrote. "I have no problem singing, it's the stress of everything else."

The 75-year-old frontman previously disclosed on CBS Mornings that he suffered two major strokes in 2016 and 2019, alongside 11 minor strokes, but did not provide further health details in his statement.

In contrast, longtime bandmate Simon Kirke, who played with Rodgers in both Free and Bad Company, had revealed in a podcast that there were plans for a reunion performance at the ceremony. However, Rodgers confirmed Kirke will perform without him.

Rodgers and Kirke are the only surviving members of Bad Company's original lineup, with bassist Raymond "Boz" Burrell and guitarist Mick Ralph having passed away over the past 20 years.
