Amazon has agreed to pay $1.5 billion in refunds following a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over deceptive practices related to Prime enrollment and cancellation. This includes cases where customers were enrolled without their consent or faced difficulties canceling their subscriptions.
If you enrolled before or after these dates, or via a different process, you are not eligible for this refund.
For most eligible customers, no action is needed to receive the refund. Amazon will automatically issue payments to qualifying subscribers across the United States.
“Amazon recently settled a lawsuit with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over deceptive enrollment and cancellation practices, including enrolling customers in Prime without their consent and making it difficult to cancel.”
This settlement aims to address consumer harm caused by these unfair practices and provide compensation to affected users.
This refund opportunity compensates customers impacted by misleading Prime sign-up and cancellation policies through 2025, reflecting Amazon’s accountability for its subscription methods.
