Tiger Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers ever, but British golf legend Luke Donald ranks Rory McIlroy as the most talented player he's faced on the PGA Tour, even above Woods.
Often, Tiger Woods is the top choice in debates about golf’s greatest of all time. However, Donald, who has competed against Woods regularly since joining the PGA Tour in 2002, believes the conversation remains open when it comes to pure talent.
Donald witnessed Woods during his prime years, when the 15-time major champion dominated the sport in the early 2000s. McIlroy, who turned professional in 2007, arrived later but quickly made a big impact.
“I've always said that of the guys I've played with out here on Tour, Rory has the most talent,” Donald said in 2011 before the DP World Tour Championship.
“He's young, he's got a great future ahead of him, and I see him winning lots of tournaments and lots of majors.”
McIlroy and Woods have since become business partners, co-founding Tomorrow's Golf League (TGL), reflecting mutual respect beyond their rivalry.
Author’s summary: Luke Donald believes Rory McIlroy is the most naturally talented golfer he has faced, even surpassing Tiger Woods, highlighting McIlroy’s bright future and success potential.
