Two Drown in Dandenong Creek
A woman and a child drowned after falling into a waterway in Dandenong this afternoon.
A witness reported that two people were swept away after falling into Dandenong Creek near Allan Street at about 3:45 pm. It is believed the woman tried to help the child and then also got into trouble.
Police searched the area, found the unconscious individuals, and pulled them from the water, beginning CPR. Despite the emergency services' efforts, both were declared dead at the scene.
Their identities have not yet been confirmed. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
