Greater Dandenong Council Wins Sustainability Award

Greater Dandenong City Council has been honoured for its remarkable dedication to sustainability by winning the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards. These awards recognise environmental efforts and a strong community spirit across Victoria.

The awards highlight initiatives that empower communities, encourage behavioural change, protect the environment, reduce waste, engage youth and Indigenous communities, and build resilience.

Winning Campaign: 'Bin It or Take It Home With You'

The Council’s Waste Services team earned the award for their campaign titled “Bin It or Take It Home With You”, which educates the public on proper litter disposal and raises awareness about its environmental harm.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Sanjay Manivasagasivam, Council Executive Director City Futures.

He added, “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”
