Thailand has taken a significant step toward building a national drone infrastructure by launching a large-scale drone delivery pilot in Bangkok. This initiative is led by Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation, a global provider of unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems.
The event, named “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” showcased how coordinated UTM technology can enable safe drone operations in complex urban environments. It highlighted collaboration between NT and High Lander to integrate drone management with advanced telecommunications.
High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was combined with NT’s 5G network to offer real-time drone flight monitoring, coordination, and safety assurance. This system allowed operators to:
During the pilot, dozens of drone deliveries were performed successfully, transporting items such as medical, agricultural supplies, and consumer goods across Bangkok.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
Thailand’s new drone delivery pilot in Bangkok demonstrates a key advancement in national drone infrastructure through innovative UTM and 5G technology integration.
