The Knicks continue to make winning look effortless and are increasingly proving themselves as one of the NBA’s top teams. What’s most notable is that they likely still haven’t reached their full potential.
Tuesday’s victory marked an early milestone, as it was their tenth game of the season. Apart from a short three-game slump, the early results of Mike Brown’s coaching era look promising. The Knicks cruised past the Grizzlies 133–120 at Madison Square Garden, stretching their winning streak to five games.
With a flawless 7–0 record at home— their best start at MSG since the 2012–13 season— the Knicks now sit second in the Eastern Conference, just behind the 9–2 Pistons, whom they ousted in last year’s playoffs. The 2012–13 team began 10–0 at home, a mark that this current squad could approach with two more home games before a road trip.
“Our fans are fantastic,” Brown said. “Playing here at MSG, playing at home, there’s no better place for a team. We fed off the energy, figured it out, and put together strong games by playing the right way on both ends for almost the full 48 minutes.”
The Grizzlies (4–8) have faced difficulties this season, but remain competitive with stars like Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. Even so, the Knicks made them look outmatched in this contest.
The Knicks dominated the Grizzlies at MSG, extending their streak to five wins and reinforcing their status as top contenders in the East.
