Nationwide Alfalfa Sprouts Recall Over Salmonella Risk

South Australians are warned not to eat Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts produced by Parilla Fresh after a national recall linked to possible Salmonella contamination. The action follows a joint investigation by health and food safety regulators into an unusual Salmonella outbreak.

Parilla Fresh has voluntarily withdrawn the affected batch while further product testing continues. Although multiple alfalfa sprout brands from the same producer are recalled across other states, only Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts are being removed from sale in South Australia.

According to SA Health, the recalled products were sold in several supermarkets, including Coles and Woolworths, in 125g packs with use-by dates up to and including 20 November 2025. Details are available on the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) website.

“Don’t eat this particular product and if you have purchased the Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts, you can return it to the point of sale or dispose of it,” said Karen Ferres, Director of Food Safety and Regulation.
