Two of Brisbane’s most loved Vietnamese venues are set to merge, creating one destination that blends the best features of both – and a banh mi bonus for loyal fans.
Red Lotus, a long-standing favorite for authentic Vietnamese meals, will move into the premises of its sister venue, Cafe O-Mai, in Annerley. The two eateries, run by chef and owner Di Dinh, have operated separately for years but share a loyal customer base and a focus on fresh, wholesome dishes.
“It made sense to bring the two spaces together,” Dinh explained. “We can focus our energy, serve our customers better, and still keep the signature dishes people love.”
The new combined venue will offer the best of both worlds:
The space will undergo light renovations to accommodate both Cafe O-Mai’s relaxed daytime vibe and Red Lotus’s evening dining style. Regulars can expect minimal disruption during the merger.
Cafe O-Mai opened in 2012 and quickly earned a reputation as one of Brisbane’s go-to Vietnamese cafes. Red Lotus, its older sister restaurant, has been a West End favorite for over a decade, known for its warm service and rich family-style cuisine.
Chef Dinh said the merger will help streamline operations and strengthen their community presence in Annerley’s growing food scene.
“Our customers have supported us for years,” she said. “We’re excited to welcome everyone to this renewed space that feels like home.”
