The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has asked residents to register designated feeding locations for stray dogs within their neighborhoods. The initiative aims to create safer and cleaner zones for both humans and animals while ensuring that dog feeders follow appropriate hygiene standards.
Citizen Participation and Health Guidelines
PMC’s health officer, Nina Borade, stated:
“As per the information provided by citizens, the Pune Municipal Corporation is identifying feeding spots to maintain public health and reduce conflicts.”
She added that the corporation will compile the submitted data to integrate it with zone-level health monitoring and animal welfare records. Residents are encouraged to report suitable areas through the PMC helpline or online forms, specifying time, frequency, and number of stray animals served.

The civic body hopes the registration system will help resolve frequent disputes between feeders and housing societies. It also seeks to promote responsible community feeding practices by avoiding overcrowding and maintaining cleanliness around feeding zones.
