Two feed mills located in France and New Caledonia have officially received certification from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), marking a significant step in responsible aquaculture feed production.
The newly certified sites belong to Le Gouessant Aquaculture in Lamballe, France, and SICA in New Caledonia. Both have been awarded the ASC Feed Standard certification, confirming that their operations meet strict sustainability and transparency requirements throughout their supply chains.
The ASC Feed Standard was developed to promote environmentally and socially responsible practices in aquaculture feed production. It requires companies to demonstrate careful sourcing of marine and terrestrial ingredients, reduce environmental impacts, and ensure ethical labor conditions.
By earning this certification, both mills contribute to a growing network of producers committed to lowering the ecological footprint of aquaculture while supporting traceable, transparent supply chains.
According to ASC representatives, these certifications signal the growing global adoption of the ASC Feed Standard, which aims to create a more sustainable aquaculture sector. The recognition in regions as diverse as Europe and the Pacific underscores the standard’s international relevance and applicability.
"Responsible sourcing and feed production are essential for sustainable aquaculture," said an ASC spokesperson. "Each new certification strengthens the industry's capacity for positive change."
