Miners prosper as FTSE 100 makes steady progress
The FTSE 100 recouped some of Friday’s losses, closing up 15.40 points at 9,442.87. Gold miners Fresnillo and Endeavour Mining leapt 9.1% and 11% respectively.
The rise comes as President Donald Trump dialled down his rhetoric in the trade spat between the US and China, causing gold to soar.
- FTSE 100 index closed up 0.2% at 9,442.87
- FTSE 250 ended 1.2% higher at 22,064.32
- AIM All-Share rose 0.8% to 792.47
In European equities, the CAC 40 in Paris closed up 0.2%, while the DAX 40 in Frankfurt ended up 0.6%.
