Lufthansa Technik Restores Vintage Lockheed Starliner
Lufthansa Technik engineers are completing a fully restored vintage Lockheed L-1649A Starliner for display in Frankfurt.
The project, planned for 18 years, will see the airliner on display at a new Lufthansa Visitor’s Center in Frankfurt by early 2026.
The Lockheed ‘Super Star’ joined the Lufthansa fleet in 1957 to serve points between Germany and the United States.
- The restoration is part of the Deutsche Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung (DLBS) historic flight foundation's collection.
- The foundation's fleet includes the former Lufthansa Junkers Ju-52 registered as D-AQUI.
