Boeing Unveils Concept for Army Unmanned Tiltrotor Aircraft

Boeing has revealed a concept for a tiltrotor drone wingman to support the Army's helicopter fleet.

The CxR aircraft is designed to operate alongside Army helicopters in combat and cargo operations, with a focus on reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, and attack missions.

"We see a lot of demand in that RSTA mission: reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and attack,"

said Chris Speights, chief engineer for Boeing's vertical lift division. The company's pitch aims to provide the Army with options and flexibility in conducting missions.

Key features of the concept include unmanned vertical-takeoff-and-landing capability, making it suitable for a range of operations.
