The Salvation Army in Rochester collected around 1,000 winter items during the "More than a Coat" drive.
Donations were accepted at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center, located at 20 1st Ave.
“Of course, a winter coat is a very basic need, but those are the two things we run out of every year,”
Community engagement director Rebecca Snapp estimated that over 500 children’s coats were donated. Distribution of the collected items will take place on Wednesday and Thursday for people in need.
