A small airplane crashed onto Interstate 195 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, during Monday morning rush hour, killing two people from Rhode Island on board.
The crash occurred as a nor'easter was bringing rain and strong winds to the area. Despite the severity of the incident, no motorists on the highway were seriously injured, according to New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell.
A woman whose car was struck by debris was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by state police. Videos from the scene show a large amount of black smoke billowing from the plane's fuselage, which came to rest on its side, with rubble scattered across the grassy median and nearby forest.
No motorists on Interstate 195 were seriously injured.
