Shoplifter Fined for Stealing Bottle of Rum
A 33-year-old man, Andrew Shepheard, was fined $500 and ordered to pay $90 in compensation for stealing a bottle of rum from Dan Murphy's Bathurst.
According to the court, Shepheard put the bottle under his jumper and left without paying. He had recently completed parole and entered a guilty plea in his absence.
"An expensive bottle of rum, sergeant, because it comes with court costs,"
said Magistrate Arthur Aguirre during sentencing. The man was not present in court on September 10, 2025.
