A federal court has granted a preliminary injunction to protect the Cathedral City International Hot Air Balloon Festival from interference by Fantasy Balloon Flights (FBF) and its principals.

According to city officials, the order safeguards the city's rights to the festival by prohibiting unlawful, unfair, and fraudulent conduct under California's Unfair Competition Law.

"Today's order protects the integrity of our community's beloved festival and gives residents, visitors, pilots, and sponsors clear assurance about who is running the official event,"

said Ryan Hunt, Communications and Events Manager.

The city announced the court's decision on Monday, ensuring the festival's continuity and legitimacy.
