Pierce County Sheriff's Office Arrests Fleeing Driver
Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after a pursuit over the weekend. The chase started Sunday night when a deputy spotted a stolen box truck driving on 198th Ave East near Bonney Lake.
The driver fled when the deputy attempted to stop the truck, leading deputies on a chase. A video released by the sheriff's office shows a deputy using a PIT (precision immobilization technique) to try to stop the truck.
"Two attempted PITs, he drove out of both of them. Third time's a charm,"
the deputy is heard saying on video. After the third PIT maneuver, the truck went off the road and crashed into a grove of trees. The driver had to be pulled from the smoking box truck.
