Safety Upgrades on Queensland Freight Route
Safety upgrades are set to begin on a key Queensland freight corridor that sees up to 15,000 vehicles daily.
Planning is underway for road upgrades along the 60-kilometre stretch of the Warrego Highway, between Toowoomba and Dalby, known for its poor crash history.
The project, delivered under the Targeted Road Safety Program, will include:
- road widening
- flattening road edges
- new signage and line marking
- removal of roadside hazards
- dedicated turn lanes at Speed Road near Oakey
Construction is expected to start in late 2025 and continue into 2026.
