'I couldn't take it anymore.' Housatonic residents install costly filters after years of brown water

Residents Take Matters into Their Own Hands

Some Housatonic Water Works customers, frustrated with delays and unfulfilled promises, have opted to install expensive filtration systems in their homes.

Donna Jacobs, a Housatonic resident, spent nearly $2,000 on an in-home water filtration system after years of waiting for the water company to upgrade its aging infrastructure.

“I got very, very tired of brown water,” Jacobs said. “It was a substantial amount of money, but I’ll tell you, I have clean water and it’s a game changer.”

Residents like Jacobs have found these filtration systems to be a significant improvement, providing them with clean water after years of dealing with brown water.
