UAB Taps Alex Mortensen as Interim Head Coach
Alex Mortensen, hired as the team's offensive coordinator in 2023, has been named the UAB interim head coach.
Mortensen expressed his gratitude to Athletic Director Mark Ingram and the administration for the opportunity.
"I certainly want to thank (Athletic Director) Mark Ingram for expressing the confidence in me and our administration to do this for the remainder of the season,"he said.
Ingram stated that they are excited to have Mortensen lead the program for the next six games, citing the team's well-documented success on offense under his coordination.
Mortensen takes over after Trent Dilfer was relieved of his duties, with the Blazers currently sitting at 2-4 (0-3) on the year.
