Local Surgeon Completes 100-Mile Race
Eric Hunn, a surgeon at Labette Health, finished the Arkansas Traveller 100 ultramarathon in 26 hours and 18 minutes.
Hunn, a former track and cross-country athlete, placed 57th out of 109 finishers and 191 total runners in the race.
I’ve done several (ultramarathons) but this is definitely my longest. I’m an above average runner, but not elite by any means.
Hunn's interest in ultramarathons began in 2022 after running a marathon in Tulsa with his sister and reading running books.
- Ran his first ultramarathon in Independence, a 30-mile race at the Elk City Reservoir.
- Completed the 100-mile Arkansas Traveller 100 ultramarathon in the Ouachita National Forest.
