I recall, as a young man, reading a line in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest and saying to myself: “This is the truth! The plain and simple truth!”
“When one is in town one amuses oneself. When one is in the country, one amuses other people. It is excessively boring.”
This quote resonates with me every time I leave the city. I have never understood the appeal of a "weekend getaway" or "the great outdoors," as city parks can provide a similar experience.
However, Orcas Island is an exception, offering a range of activities, including great restaurants, bars, and art events, such as the Orcas Island Film Festival, which takes place from October 15 to 19 this year.
