Mark Mikel, the former executive director of the Family Christian Development Center, has retired after serving in the position since 2014.
The Center, a faith-based non-profit organization in Nappanee, provides various services to the community, including:
“We are the food pantry, rental utilities assistance, clothing closet, medication assistance, and we do baby immunizations for Nappanee, Wakarusa and Wa-Nee Community Schools,”
Mikel says. The Center was founded in 1996 by JoAnne and Larry Andrews, who were inspired by their faith to open a food pantry.
“And it’s always been based around the belief that sharing Christ’s love is what helps people not just meet their immediate needs but see some change in their lives,”
Mikel notes. During his tenure, Mikel initiated improvements to The Center and doubled the budget.
