Tompkins County residents attended an information session to learn about updated FEMA flood zone maps and insurance options.
The session, held at the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce in Ithaca, allowed attendees to ask questions and clarify concerns.
"There were some landlord property owners here for tenant insurance, that kind of thing. Basements, what’s covered in a basement (and) what isn’t covered,"
said Valarie VanGorder, Vice President of Bailey Place Insurance.
The update is part of a larger effort, as
"In 2003, Congress mandated that FEMA update all the flood maps across the country, and Cortland County was done back in 2010."
