Albany County Sets Minimum Age to Purchase Flare Guns at 21
People in Albany County must now be at least 21 years old to purchase a flare gun, following an executive order signed by County Executive Dan McCoy.
Previously, there was no minimum age requirement for purchasing flare guns. The county noted that although flare guns are marketed as emergency signaling devices, they can cause severe bodily harm and property damage when misused.

McCoy said he does not think kids understand how dangerous flare guns are.
