No upsets occurred in the opening round of the South Piedmont Conference Volleyball Tournament, according to a Salisbury Post staff report.
Top-seeded Carson (24-3) swept eighth-seeded Salisbury (5-18), while fourth-seeded West Rowan (11-9) swept fifth-seeded Robinson. Additionally, second-seeded South Rowan (18-5) swept seventh-seeded Northwest Cabarrus, and third-seeded East Rowan (18-10) swept sixth-seeded Concord.
In the semifinals, hosted by South, Carson faced West Rowan, and East Rowan took on South Rowan. The championship game is set to be hosted by South on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
In related news, North Rowan (5-18) was swept by Gray Stone in the first round of the Yadkin Valley Conference Tournament.
