Fortescue Cuts Hundreds of Jobs
Fortescue Metals is cutting several hundred jobs in the UK and Australia as it shifts manufacturing activities to China.
This move affects Fortescue Zero and comes as the company ramps up new technologies to reach its "real zero" target by 2030, aiming to burn no gas or diesel at its Pilbara iron ore operations.
- The target requires up to 400 huge 240-tonne electric haul trucks for transporting ore.
- Half of these trucks will be built by China's XCMG, as announced a few weeks ago.
Andrew Forrest’s Fortescue Metals is focusing on R&D and sending manufacturing to China.
