Automaker Stellantis is moving its Jeep Compass production from Brampton, Ontario to Illinois, USA, due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
Stellantis had previously paused production at its Ontario plant amidst tariff threats. However, the company has now decided to shift production to its Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois, investing $600 million.
With an initial production launch expected in 2027, these actions are anticipated to create around 3,300 new jobs (in America),
This move is part of a larger $13 billion investment in the US, creating over 5,000 jobs.
