Two requests for allowing farm animals in residential districts were denied by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during a meeting on Tuesday.
Erica Cotner requested an exception to keep chickens at her residence, located at 12545 N. Syracuse Webster Road, Syracuse, due to medical dietary issues.
“Up until the complaint came through, I wasn’t aware that we were considered residential because our house is in-county,”
Cotner stated, adding that the previous owners had already built a coop and kept chickens and ducks on the property when they bought it in 2019.
The Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals denied both requests for the allowance of farm animals in residential districts.
