An off-duty WellSpan physician, Dr. Vincent Barnhart, is being praised for his quick action in a tense situation that left two troopers critically wounded in Franklin County.
The incident occurred on October 8 on I-81, after a car chase ended with 31-year-old Lamar Foy opening fire on Trooper Thomas Pack and Trooper Lucas Amarose. Foy was shot and killed, but not before leaving the two troopers critically injured.
Dr. Barnhart, a family medicine physician, happened to be in the area and witnessed the incident. He first checked on the shooter before being asked to check on the status of Pack and Amarose.
